The Mati heart shirt set

This one is not a costume. She is arriving for work, not in character: Amala Paul stepping down from the unit caravans onto red laterite ground, an umbrella held over her, crew around her. The date is 12 September 2026, which is the day shooting began on M Padmakumar's untitled Malayalam horror thriller — Amala Paul heads the cast, Rajsagar Films produce, and the pooja was held at Mahi Ayesha Mansion before the unit moved out across Thalassery, Mahi, Vatakara, Kannur and Koothuparamba. Onmanorama ran a photograph from the same day and described her in "a simple white kurta with red floral prints", which is a reporter's read of the shirt below. The film has no title yet, so there is no film page to send you to.

And unusually for an appearance, the outfit is not a mystery. It is the Heart Shirt Set by Mati, stocked by NETE.in, and it is a two-piece sold as one: ₹23,300 inclusive of taxes, in stock at the time of writing. Both halves come in the box, which is why there is no guesswork about whether the maroon trousers match.

The shirt is the thing. Oatmeal handwoven linen, open enough in the weave that the light comes through it, cut long and relaxed to a little below mid-calf, with a classic collar left open at two or three buttons, small cream buttons on a narrow placket, sleeves pushed to just under the elbow, inseam pockets and long side slits that start around mid-thigh over a curved shirttail hem. Scattered across all of it are deep-red hearts, roughly the size of a palm, irregularly spaced rather than laid out on a print repeat — and they are embroidered, not printed, which is what stops the whole thing reading as a novelty shirt. The trousers under it are the set's own: deep wine cotton, high waisted with an elasticated back, straight through the leg, breaking at the ankle. Watch them shift in the footage — in direct Kerala sun they flare to a bright red, and in the shade of the caravan they go back to wine. Same trousers.

On her feet, cream double-band flat slides on a moulded footbed, worn with no socks. Whether they carry buckles is genuinely not legible at any zoom, so take the shape and the colour as the match and not the hardware.

The bracelets are off the list. There is a stack of green beads and a red thread band on her right wrist, a black smartwatch on her left and a small yellow tassel in her hand, and not one of them ever comes into focus well enough to name. No stylist or label has been credited for the look anywhere, so what is below is the one confirmed brand and, under it, three pieces we picked ourselves.

One note on where this came from, because the clip is circulating widely. It intercuts the real footage of her with NETE's own studio video of a different model in black boots, and keys a small copy of that model into the corner of the outdoor shots. None of the studio footage is used on this page. That woman is not Amala Paul.
