The black floral co-ord

This one is not a costume. Shweta Mohan is a playback singer, and she wore this to sing in — walking through an airport concourse in the first half of the clip, then on a stage with a band behind her. Nothing here was made for a film, and she is not an actress, whatever the reposts say.

It is also, unusually for this site, one purchase. The whole outfit is a single co-ord set: a wrap-front crop top with long blouson sleeves gathered into elasticated cuffs, tied at the waist so a band of midriff shows, worn with wide-leg palazzo trousers that have a partly elasticated waistband and a side pocket. The fabric is viscose and you can see it in the way the leg moves — it falls and swings rather than holding a shape. The print is the reason the outfit works: very large watercolour blooms, coral ruffled poppies with gold-green centres, pale open roses, cream peonies with yellow hearts and olive leaves, scaled so that a single flower covers most of a thigh.

One thing to say plainly, because our own frames will make you doubt it. In the airport footage the set looks bottle-green. It is black. That whole sequence is graded with heavy teal in the shadows, and everything dark in the frame goes the same way — her hair, and the face of the smartwatch on her left wrist, which is certainly black, measure almost exactly the same colour as the fabric. Under the blue stage light later in the clip the ground reads plain black, and the brand makes it in one colourway only.

Four things are deliberately not listed below. The gold rectangular drop earrings are a clear enough shape but not a findable product. The fine gold chain never resolves. The watch is a smartwatch, which is a device rather than part of the look. And her shoe is never more than half visible under the hem — gold-toned in warm light, dark under the stage backlight, and there is no frame in which flat or low block heel can be told apart.

We have not named the event. The stage banner reads "Shwetha Mohan with Benn…" and the footage carries Dubai station Hit 96.7's on-screen mark, but nothing published ties her to a named date there, and we would rather leave it blank than invent it.
