The MANGO printed camp-collar shirt

This one is not a costume. It is what Vijay was wearing around his 52nd birthday in June 2026 — first in the photograph Trisha Krishnan posted from the celebration on 23 June, and again in fan-shot video of him walking out of a mall — and it is one garment doing all of the work.

For once we can name the real thing, and it is not a guess. MANGO's own product page appears on screen in the clip: "Regular-fit textured printed shirt", colour listed as Grey, priced at US$59.99 — roughly ₹5,200 at the exchange rate in August 2026. The brand's photography lines up with the frames detail for detail, right down to the crinkle in the cloth. We could not find that exact style still listed on MANGO India in August 2026, which is normal for a Spring/Summer print; MANGO Man shirts sell here at around ₹2,500-₹3,000 when they are in stock. So the piece below is a lookalike, and it says where it differs.

The shirt is the whole look. A slate-charcoal ground in a crinkle-textured weave — a crepe with a fine ripple you can see in close-up, which is what the word "textured" in the product name is doing there — printed with large camel and tobacco-brown organic shapes. They are not flowers and not quite camouflage: soft-edged silhouettes, roughly eight to twelve centimetres across, spaced far enough apart that a good deal of the charcoal shows between them. Short sleeves. A camp collar, the flat notched revere kind that lies open at the neck rather than standing up. Tonal matte buttons. Regular cut, worn loose and open at the top two buttons.

One thing worth knowing about the colour, because it looks like two different shirts across the two sources. In the birthday photograph, shot under warm kitchen light, the print reads golden-mustard against a bluish grey. In the daylight of the mall footage it reads what it actually is: camel-brown on slate. The brand photography agrees with the daylight.

Nothing else on this page, and that is deliberate. His trousers, his belt and his shoes are never visible — the kitchen counter and the cake hide him from the chest down in the photograph, and the crowd does the same in every frame of the video. MANGO photographs the shirt with charcoal trousers, but that is the brand styling it, not Vijay, and listing them here as his would be a guess. One garment is what we can actually see, so one garment is what is listed.
