The yellow organza saree and the gold jaali collar

This one is not a costume. Keerthy Suresh wore it to a promotional appearance, walking in past a crowd on a green carpet under a marquee. She does not wear it in any film, and we are not going to name the event: the footage does not identify it and a guessed venue is a guess printed as a fact.

What makes this page unusual is that we can tell you what every single thing on her costs, because for once nothing has to be inferred. The saree set is Devnaagri's, sold through Aza Fashions. All four pieces of jewellery are Sheetal Zaveri by Vithaldas. Every price below was read off the brand's own live page, and every one of them also appears as a ringed screen capture in the source footage — so each figure is confirmed twice, from two directions.

The saree is silk organza in a warm buttercup yellow — sheer enough that the light comes through the pallu, and light enough that it moves whenever she does. There is no woven border and no zari band. Everything on it is thread: dori embroidery, tonal, the same yellow-gold as the ground, worked in a broad floral run along the border and the pallu and thinning out across the body. The very edge is finished with a narrow scalloped trim of small flat gold discs, and that trim is the one detail that catches light in every frame. The blouse comes with it — sleeveless, a deep V, the same tonal floral embroidery on the panel and the same gold trim edging the neckline.

Round her neck is the piece the whole look is built on. Sheetal Zaveri's Geethanjali collar is a broad bib of fine jaali mesh — a lattice of tiny beads several rows deep, sitting high and wide on the throat, ending in a scalloped, pointed lower edge fringed with small drops and set with a few chevrons of red and green meenakari. Under it hangs a second, longer strand carrying an ornate temple pendant. Warm light reads the whole thing gold; the marquee's cool green bounce reads it silver. The brand states it is 92.5 per cent sterling silver, which is the answer.

The earrings are small — 1.1 inches by 1 inch, per the brand's own scale card. A gold winged panel set with ruby-red and green kundan, pearl beads along the top edge, and three gold leaf-shaped drops hanging off the bottom with green beads between them. On her right wrist, a flat banded bracelet; on her right hand, a stone ring.

What that adds up to: ₹68,500 for the saree set, ₹72,000 for the Geethanjali collar, ₹18,600 for the Threya earrings, ₹19,200 for the Kunti bracelet and ₹8,400 for the Kanchi ring. **₹1,86,700 for the look.**

Below are the five real pieces, and then our own picks. There are only two of them, and that is deliberate. The saree and the collar both have honest high-street answers and they are here. The earrings, the bracelet and the ring do not — they are small, hand-set sterling pieces, and everything we found at high-street prices was a chandbali or a cuff pretending to be them. We would rather show you two cards you can trust than five where three are wrong.
