The saree itself, still on sale. First silk in Aikyatha’s Suswaram Raga Edition, a collection woven as a tribute to M.S. Subbulakshmi and named for the raga Shankarabharanam. Pure Kanjivaram silk in what the brand calls MS-blue deepening to royal purple, with pure gold zari throughout: fine zari lines through the cobalt body, violet border bands carrying woven figures set in roundels, a gold creeper running the edge, and a narrow magenta selvedge. The part you see on her — the shoulder section — is the plainest of it, a row of small gold dancing figures travelling along three long sweeping curves of zari. Woven to order by a single weaver over roughly eight to sixteen days, numbered, and Silk Mark certified. Price inclusive of taxes and in stock on the brand’s own site when this page was built.
