The ivory kasavu tissue saree

This one is not a costume. Genelia D’Souza wore it to a Kalyan Jewellers Navratri celebration on 25 September 2025 — the clip this page is built from puts the event in Thrissur, which is where the jeweller is based. She is not in a film here and she is not the brand’s ambassador. No outlet that covered the appearance named a designer, a label or a stylist for anything she has on, so no brand is named below except the lookalikes.

It is a Kerala kasavu, worn straight.

The saree is the whole look. The ground is an ivory tissue — light, with a low sheen, and sheer enough that the blouse reads through the sleeve. Across it runs a fine gold-zari windowpane check: two sets of thin gold lines crossing at right angles, with the lines running one way noticeably heavier than the other, which is why it reads as plain stripes at a distance and only resolves into a grid up close. The border is the classic kasavu — one broad, flat, plain band of gold zari with a narrow ivory band inboard of it and a fine patterned gold line at the very selvedge. It is draped open-pallu, carried over the left shoulder and left to fall across the chest rather than pleated and pinned.

The blouse is cut to match rather than to contrast: a warm champagne-gold zari tissue, round-necked, with full sleeves running all the way to the wrist and a plain ivory band at the cuff. Along each shoulder there is a panel of ivory fabric with dense tonal thread work on it — it appears on both shoulders, which is how you can tell it belongs to the blouse and is not a second fall of the drape.

The necklace is short, sitting at the base of the throat: a band of small round gold motifs with a row of little tapering bud-shaped drops hanging along its lower edge. It reads as plain gold. Single frames make it look stone-set in pink, but that is the maroon backdrop throwing warm light, and it does not survive from one frame to the next.

On the left wrist are stacked gold bangles — two or three slim plain ones together with a broader bangle carrying a raised, granulated pattern.

Her hair is centre-parted and pulled sleek into a low braided bun, with a long strand of fresh white jasmine tucked down the braid and an orange-gold thread running with it. That is fresh mullapoo rather than an accessory, so it is not priced below, but it is doing a lot of the work and a length of it costs very little at any flower stall.

Two things are visible and are deliberately not listed. Her earrings are long, ornate and gold, widening into a floral fan and tapering to a point at about the jawline — the shape is clear enough, but the construction never sharpens up, and nothing on the high street has that silhouette, so putting a price against it would be a guess dressed up as a match. She is also wearing rings on both hands, which never resolve to a shape worth naming. Her footwear is not listed for a simpler reason: the clip never frames below mid-calf, so no frame shows it at all.
