The ivory gilet and black column skirt

This is not a costume. Isha Ambani does not wear this in anything — she wore it to collect an award, at the first Indian edition of Bazaar India's Women of the Year, in Mumbai on 19 October 2024, where she was named Icon of the Year. Anaita Shroff Adajania styled her. The whole look is two garments and a black-and-white idea, and both garments are Schiaparelli.

The top half is the Chain Bijoux Gilet: a sleeveless tailored waistcoat in ivory cady, worn on its own with nothing underneath it. The cut is the point. It plunges in a long narrow V almost to the sternum, pulls hard into the waist, and then releases into a short peplum over the hip, so the silhouette is a proper hourglass rather than a straight vest. Down the front are five large gold buttons, hammered and sculptural — Schiaparelli's S emblem, the house's own good-luck letter — and they are the only thing on the piece that catches light. There are two welt pockets at the hip, and a jewelled button tab at the centre back that the brand's own photographs show clearly.

One detail here is worth being precise about, because we did not see it. Schiaparelli's copy describes the gilet's straps as gold chain with bone-effect bar clasps, and the flat shot on their e-shop shows exactly that. In this footage her hair is down and falls over both shoulders in every usable frame, so the chains never actually appear. They are named here on the brand's authority, not ours.

The bottom half is the Piercings Long Skirt in black compact jersey: floor-length, high-waisted, cut straight as a column with no flare at all, in a smooth matte cloth that reads as a single solid block against the ivory. It is not quite plain — scattered down the front are small decorative copper piercings, set into tonal asymmetric cut-outs, and at full resolution you can pick several of them out. Against a moving crowd they read as nothing more than a texture, which is presumably the idea.

The prices are the whole reason this page is interesting. The gilet was €4,500 when she wore it — about ₹4.1 lakh. The skirt was €5,500, about ₹5 lakh. Roughly ₹9 lakh of clothing, before the diamonds.

Where they stand now, checked 30 August 2026: the gilet is still on Schiaparelli's e-shop, the price has gone up to €4,800, and it is marked available in store only — you cannot order it. The skirt is gone altogether; its product page now redirects to the general ready-to-wear collection. That is also why the skirt has no card below. It has no photograph on the brand's site any more, and a card without one would be a card without evidence.

Three things are deliberately absent from the list. The gold object she is holding all evening is the Icon of the Year trophy, not a bag — it is easy to mistake for a sculptural clutch in a still, and it is not one. Her shoes: the skirt sweeps the floor and her feet are never on screen. And her jewellery — there is a substantial diamond ring and a pair of earrings, both clearly visible, and nobody has credited either, so nobody is going to be told who made them here.
