The mint windowpane-check saree and mustard blouse

This one is not a costume. Nayanthara wore it to an interview — she and Kavin sat down with Pearle Maaney on 22 August 2026 to talk about Hi, which opened six days later. She does not wear this in the film.

It is also one of the rare pages here where we can tell you exactly what the saree is instead of what it resembles, and the number is smaller than you would guess from looking at it.

The saree is pure chanderi in a very pale mint — closer to celadon than to any bottle or sea green, and pale enough that in the warm lamplight of that room it reads almost grey-white until she moves. It is sheer. You can see the sofa through the pallu where it falls loose over her shoulder. Across the whole cloth runs a windowpane check, and the check is the entire design: fine yellow lines crossing slightly wider opaque white ones, about a hand's width apart, so the grid is large and quiet rather than busy. There is no border to speak of, no zari band, no motif in the pallu. Nothing on it is trying to be a festive saree.

The blouse is the decision that makes the outfit. Plain mustard-yellow, sleeveless, a scooped round neck and a narrow shoulder strap of maybe two fingers' width, in a fabric with just enough sheen to catch light against the matte cotton-silk of the saree. Mint and mustard is not an obvious pairing and it is doing all the work: against a check this pale, a tonal blouse would have left the whole look flat, and a gold one would have made it a festival saree. It is worth knowing that the brand's own photographs style this exact saree with a mustard sleeveless blouse too, so her team either followed the label's styling or arrived at the same answer.

What is deliberately not listed below: the gold bracelet-watch on her left wrist, the small studs in her ear — there are three, a stud and two smaller ones climbing the lobe — and the thin ring on her right hand. None of them resolves to anything nameable even at 4K, and a guessed credit on a real person is the fastest way to make every other page here worthless. There is no necklace at all in this look, which is unusual for her and is part of why the blouse reads as loudly as it does.
